BBC says it did not cut Irish language portion from CMAT 'EURO-COUNTRY' broadcast
"We broadcast the radio edit of CMAT’s new song Euro-Country that was supplied by the record label," said the BBC.
The BBC has rejected claims that it edited out the Irish language intro verse to CMAT's new single 'EURO-COUNTRY' during its on-air premiere last night.
The track and its music video debuted on BBC Radio 1 at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The 40 second introduction of the song, which CMAT sings in Irish, was not included in the broadcast. CMAT took to social media to express confusion over the broadcast, saying she didn't know "if it was a mistake or what happened" on an Instagram story.
BBC Radio 1 said they did not edit out the Irish language from the track, and that they "broadcast the radio edit of CMAT’s new song Euro-Country that was supplied by the record label."
Hot Press has reached out to CMAT's record label, AWAL Recordings, for comment.
BBC Radio 1 also said that the full version of 'EURO-COUNTRY', including the Irish language section, was played today on 'Rickie Melvin and Charlie' and will be played again on ‘Going Home’ and ‘Radio 1’s New Music Show with Jack Saunders'.
'EURO-COUNTRY' is the title track of her upcoming album, due to be released on August 29.
