Annmarie Cullen shares new single ahead of International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival appearance
The song is set to feature in Cullen's upcoming one-woman musical. Watch the accompanying ballet-inspired video below.
Dublin songwriter Annmarie Cullen has shared her new single, ‘Your Ex’, ahead of her stage return at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival next month.
The song is a duet, co-written and featuring fellow Irish songsmith Mundy. Cullen’s Saucy Monky bandmate, Cynthia Catania contributes lead electric guitar, with a flurry of longtime collaborators such as Adam Marcello, Meg Toohey, Aongus Ralston, Max Greenwood and Gabriel Mann also lending a hand on the recording.
“I first heard Mundy’s music when he was about 19 years old and we were both regulars at the songwriter’s open mic at the International Bar in Dublin,” says Cullen. “His voice and stage presence were so unique and captivating, even at that young age.
“I moved to LA shortly thereafter, but we kept in touch over the years and reconnected in Dublin over the pandemic and wrote “Your Ex” together.
“In the play, I perform the song solo, but it was so enjoyable to do a full band version and duet with Mundy for the single release”.
The play in question is Remember That Time?, Cullen’s one-woman, multi-media musical, which debuts at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival at The Outhouse on Capel Street this May. The show is also set to feature comedian Gearoid Farrelly and musician Naimee Coleman, who make appearances via mocked-up Zoom calls.
