Starring Adam Scott, the film tells a story of novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott), who retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. There, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting consume his mind, and "disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past," according to the logline.
The cast also includes Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Will O’Connell, Michael Patric, Brendan Conroy, Siox C, Austin Amelio, and Ezra Carlisle.
Produced by Tailored Film's Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtin de Barra, alongside Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Derek Dauchy, the film's main shooting took place in West Cork.
Damian McCarthy is an IFTA nominated director from Cork. He made his directorial debut at the age of 39 when he wrote, directed, and edited Caveat in 2020. Four years late, he wrote and directed Oddity, which won an Audience Award at South by Southwest. Hokum will be McCarthy's Hollywood debut.
Adam Scott is an American actor and comedian, best known for sitcom Parks and Recreation and the sci-fi thriller series Severance, for which he won the Critics' Choice television award for Best Actor in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Series in 2023.
