Teaser trailer for Pavement film released
The film features Stranger Things' Joe Keery as Stephen Malkmus, the band's lead singer.
A new teaser trailer has been released for Pavements, Alex Ross Perry's upcoming film about influential indie-rock band Pavement.
The film is an experimental hybrid between documentary, mockumentary, fake biopic, and a musical stage play. It premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival last year.
The new trailer, titled Range Life: A Pavement Story, teases a fictional film within Pavements, featuring Stranger Things' Joe Keery as Stephen Malkmus, the band's lead singer. The meta-film is said to parody music biopics.
The clip's soundtrack includes Pavement's song 'Shady Lane,' which playfully features the lyric: "You’ve been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation of the sequel to your life."
The release of Range Life's teaser follows a different trailer released last year, showing documentary-style footage alongside a clip of Kerry.
Pavement formed in the '90s in Stockton, California. Their debut album, Slanted and Enchanted (1992), is credited by some as one of the best albums of all time. That record, alongs with four others they would release throughout the decade, garnered the band a cult following.
Joe Keery also releases music as Djo. His upcoming album, The Crux, is scheduled for release on April 4, and he is set to perform at Dublin's 3Olympia on June 1 as part of his world tour.
