Special screening of No Other Land announced by Phibsboro For All
No Other Land won Best Documentary Feature Film at the 97th Acadamy Awards.
A screening of No Other Land, a Palestinian-Israeli documentary that follows activist Basel Adra's battle against Israeli demolitions and displacement in Masafer Yatta, West Bank, is set to be held at Technological University Dublin next week.
The film will be screened on Monday, January 26, at TUD, hosted by local community organisation Phibsboro For All.
The screening is being held in conjunction with DCU, which is hosting an ‘Acts of Solidarity’ event featuring the Palestinian play, The Horse of Jenin. Following the viewing of No Other Land, there will be a facilitated discussion on the documentary.
According to the film's description, Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist, has been resisting the forced displacement of his people by Israel's military in Masafer Yatta, a region in the occupied West Bank, since he was a child.
He records the gradual destruction of his homeland on his camera and befriends a Jewish Israeli journalist who helps him in his struggle. They form an unexpected bond, but their friendship is challenged by their different living conditions.
The documentary was filmed over four years between 2019 and 2023, wrapping production in October 2023.
Reservations for the screening can be made on the Eventbrite website.
