SNL's Fred Armisen to release new album 100 Sound Effects
Despite its title, the tracklist features 101 sound effects.
Former Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen has announced the release of his album 100 Sound Effects on September 26.
The first seven sound effects of the tracklist are available now on his new single, 'Music Venues'.
Armisen is known for co-creating and co-starring in the series Portlandia and Los Espookys, voice-acting in Big Mouth and was a member of Saturday Night Live's cast from 2002 to 2013, among other notable credits.
From 2014 to 2024, Armisen was the bandleader and frequent drummer for the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band, The 8G Band.
According to a press release, Armisen is dedicating the new record to the late Steve Albini, an American musician and audio engineer who passed away last year.
"Because Steve was so instrumental in making this happen, I dedicate the album to his memory. I miss him every day," he said.
The SNL star has noted Mary Lynn Rajskub, Amber Coffman, Tim Heidecker, Riki Lindhome, and Alice Carbone Tench as the “help and inspiration” for his upcoming release.
Alongside the release of 100 Sound Effects, he will be gigging throughout the US in September with the ‘Comedy for Musicians but Everyone Is Welcome’ tour.
He will perform upcoming shows with John Mulaney, along with Mike Birbiglia and Nick Kroll, and will have two performances with his former Portlandia co-star, Carrie Brownstein.
100 Sound Effects will be released via Drag City on September 26.
