Sequel To Original Ghostbusters Films Announced
Jason Reitman will helm Ghostbusters sequel slated for summer 2020 release.
A new Ghostbusters movie has been announced that will take place in the same universe as the original films.
Jason Reitman (Tully, Juno) co-wrote the film in secret with Monster House director Gil Kenan and will also be directing the sequel. Reitman’s father, Ivan Reitman, directed the original Ghostbusters films and will be producing the forthcoming follow-up.
Plot details are still being kept tightly under wraps and it remains to be seen if any of the cast members from the original films will be involved. Reitman made clear in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the new film is not connected to 2016’s all-female reboot when he said “this is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the '80s happened in the '80s, and this is set in the present day."
Reitman’s Ghostbusters sequel will be released in summer 2020.
