Robin Williams' son pays tribute to his father on 70th birthday
Zak Williams posted the touching tribute on Instagram as a birthday message to his father.
Zak Williams, son of Robin Williams, led tributes to his late Oscar-winner and iconic comedian father on what would have been his 70th birthday.
On Wednesday (July 21), Zak posted a tribute to his father on Instagram captioned, "Dad, on what would have been your 70th birthday, I would want you to know that your incredible spirit lives within us. Our family will be celebrating you and your memory today. We miss you and love you always!"
Zak is also a mental health advocate and appeared on The Genius Life podcast to discuss his father's death, including the "frustration" he saw over the actor's misdiagnosis with Parkinson's disease.
Robin Williams, the Mrs Doutbfire and Good Will Hunting star, took his own life in 2014, aged 63.
After his death, he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia (LBD), which his wife, Susan Schneider Williams, described as "the terrorist inside my husband's brain".
"What he was going through didn’t match one to one [with what] many Parkinson’s patients experience," Zak said on the podcast. "So, I think that was hard for him."
"There was a focus issue that frustrated him, there were issues associated with how he felt and also from a neurological perspective he didn’t feel great. He was very uncomfortable."
