Producer calls Love Island's Maura Higgins "a natural" when it comes to acting
The Spin is set to release next spring.
Love Island star, Maura Higgins, has been praised by an Irish movie producer who says she could have "a very good career" ahead of her if she wanted it.
Keeping busy, the Irish icon recently appeared as a host on the fifth season of the American version of Love Island.
The 32-year-old is set to make her acting debut in The Spin, an upcoming comedy filmed in and around Omagh, Co Tyrone.
Producer Edward McCaffrey told RTÉ Entertainment that they cast the TV star as Rose in the film, as they thought she would be "perfect for the role." Maura seems to have taken to the role like a duck to water, leaving McCaffrey very impressed.
"I have to say, she was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant," he gushed. "For someone who's never acted before, to see her hit her cues, hit her marks, give the same performance every take, was excellent."
He continued to praise the Longford native: "She played the role exactly how she was directed. She arrived, she was absolutely fantastic on set, very friendly, and very approachable. Wonderful to work with."
The Spin is described as "a musical comedic road trip," following two characters, Elvis and Dermot, who are played by Hardy Bucks star Owen Colgan and Game of Thrones' Brenock O'Connor. Tara Lynne O'Neill, well-known to viewers for playing Ma Mary in Derry Girls, is also part of the cast.
Maura was nervous to take the leap into acting, she admits: "Moving from something like Love Island or presenting to acting - if you'd never done it before, could be a big mistake."
The Spin is set to release in Spring 2024.
