President Connolly congratulated "all involved in the Irish film industry for its continued international recognition".
President Catherine Connolly, Minister Patrick O'Donovan, Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald, and more have congratulated Jessie Buckley on her Oscar nomination for Best Actress, for her performance in Hamnet.
Catherine Connolly praised the nominees and "all involved in the Irish film industry for its continued international recognition," she has said on X.
She also extended her congratulations to Maggie O'Farrell, author of Hamnet, who has been nominated alongside director Chloe Zhao for Best Adapted Screenplay, Element Pictures, and Wild Atlantic Pictures on their Oscar nominations.

Mary Lou McDonald took to social media, saying it was “a brilliant day for Irish talent and creativity on the international stage”.
Patrick O'Donovan issued a statement, which read: "I wish Jessie the very best of luck, and every possible success, at the Academy Awards ceremony on 15 March. The whole of Killarney, Kerry and Ireland will be cheering her on".
He also congratulated Wild Atlantic Pictures' Blue Moon, made almost entirely in Ireland, Bugonia, produced by Irish company Element Pictures, and Retirement Plan, directed by John Kelly, starring the voice of Domhnall Gleeson as Ray.
