PREMIERE: Aslan feature iconic Dublin landmarks in the video for their 'Hold On' single
"'Hold On' for me is the best single we have released since 'Crazy World'," says Christy Dignam and we're not arguing with him!
Hot Press is delighted to bring you the first look at the David Merriman directed video for the fabulous new Aslan single, 'Hold On'.
Shot in St. Anne's Park, Raheny; Dublin docklands; and the coast road in Clontarf, it's sure to spark even more interest in what has been hailed as a classic addition to the Aslan canon.
“The video itself encapsulates where in life we are all at right now," reflects Christy Dignam who recently celebrated his sixtieth birthday. "It’s totally different to anything we have done before. It’s about taking stock as a man and as a musician. We’ve released singles that were totally ignored, really good songs too, so it’s great to get such a positive reaction for 'Hold On'. The reaction has been amazing across the board and critics seem to like it too.”
As previously reported on hotpress.com, Christy and the chaps are playing Live At The Drive-In shows at Leopardstown Racecourse, Dublin on July 30 and then heading to Cork Showgrounds on August 2. There will be two performances each day - a matinee for which gates open at 3pm, and an evening gig with a 7pm kick-off - with tickets €60 for a car of four people. You can book here http://liveatthedrivein.ie/index.html but don't be delaying!
Somebody who we're sure will be checking out the 'Hold On' video is recent Hot Press cover star, Gerry Cinnamon.
"I've been obsessively watching everything with Christy Dignam in it on YouTube," he told us. "I only found out about him and Aslan the last couple of weeks. I never knew the guy existed. Oh my God man, I can't get enough of him."
