Paul McCartney's children's book High in the Clouds to be adapted as Netflix movie
High in the Clouds will feature songs penned by the ex Beatle.
Paul McCartney teams up with Netflix and Gaumont to produce a movie adaptation of his children book High in the Clouds. The 2005 novel illustrated by Geoff Dunbar will be made into an animated feature.
In addition to producing, the ex Beatle wrote songs for the film. Timothy Reckart (Head over Heels, The Star) is directing while Jon Croker (Paddington) penned the script.
High in the Clouds follows a teenage squirrel called Wirral. After he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), he finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix," said McCartney. "They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no-one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I've always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can't wait for the world to see it."
