Nosferatu director Robert Eggers to direct Labyrinth sequel
Robert Eggers set to direct long-awaited sequel to Labyrinth after success with Nosferatu
Robert Eggers, the director of Nosferatu, is set to write and direct the sequel to Jim Henson’s 1986 Labyrinth for TriStar Pictures.
Eggers is co-writing the project with his partner Sjón. Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus will be producing alongside Lisa Henson whilst Brian Henson will serve as the executive producer.
Jim Henson's original Labyrinth featured David Bowie as the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as a teenager who adventures to save her baby brother.
Initially Scott Derrickson was intended to direct the movie, but back in 2023 he confessed he found the project "a tough nut to crack" when asked about the status of the project for TriStar Pictures and Jim Henson Pictures. The script had been set to be written by Maggie Levin, and it was being described as a sequel at the time.
Eggers, whose Nosferatu earned four Oscar nominations, is also set to collaborate once again with Focus Features on Werwulf, a 13th-century werewolf horror film planned for release in December 2026.
