Netflix release first look images from Ripley with Andrew Scott
The streaming giant and production company has today released first look images of the upcoming 8 part series Ripley
A deliciously dark noir, Ripley sees Irish actor Andrew Scott return to our screens. Based on Patricia Highsmith's Tom Ripley novels, Ripley stars Scott in the titular role of the iconic conman.
Fans of Highsmith's work might be familiar with the 1999 adaption of The Talented Mr Ripley which starred Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow and garnered five academy award nominations.
A seductive tale evoking the noir aesthetics and dark academia, Ripley, follows a suspense-filled journey set in Italy in the ’60s.
Scott’s Tom Ripley is a grifter scraping by in New York who's then hired by a wealthy industrialist to travel to Italy to try to convince the man’s dilettante son, Dickie Greenleaf, played by musician and actor Johnny Flynn, to return home. Accepting the job is Tom’s first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.
The story is told across 8 episodes written, directed, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Steven Zaillian of The Irishman and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo fame.
The limited series follows Scott as roguish anti-hero of Tom Ripley. You can check out a first look of the anticipated Netflix original here.
