Liam Neeson's first Naked Gun reboot trailer revealed
Check out the trailer below.
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for its upcoming reboot of the classic comedy franchise The Naked Gun, starring Irish actor Liam Neeson.
Neeson takes on the lead role as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the original film's iconic and clumsy detective, played by Leslie Nielsen.
The trailer introduces Frank Drebin Jr. as a more refined operative than his father, including a scene where he takes down an assailant disguised as a schoolgirl using a sharpened lollipop. The teaser also includes references to original characters, featuring the children of Captain Ed Hocken and Officer Nordberg.
One moment in particular sparked online reaction, a nod to OJ Simpson, who portrayed Nordberg in the original films. In the trailer, Nordberg’s son looks up at a photo of his late father before glancing knowingly at the camera and shaking his head in disapproval.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, the reboot features Pamela Anderson and Danny Huston in supporting roles.
The original Naked Gun trilogy, released between 1988 and 1994, was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, grossing $166 million (€150 million) and remaining a fan favourite through streaming and home media.
