John Carpenter announces new album and graphic novel
The American filmmaker and composer has announced his first-ever graphic novel accompanied by an album.
John Carpenter has announced Cathedral, a new album out on August 7.
It will be accompanied by his first-ever graphic novel of the same name, released on August 4.
Each song on the album corresponds to a chapter of the graphic novel, while the liner notes will help readers and listeners navigate the story.
He made the album with long-time bandmate Daniel Davies and his son, Cody Carpenter.
"It was so cinematic and vivid", said Carpenter."I thought, I have to score this".
Cathedral, inspired by a dream Carpenter had, focuses on an abandoned church in downtown Los Angeles. It becomes a point of interest after a police officer is killed, and follows a chain of murders.
The graphic novel was made alongside his wife Sandy King, writer Sean Sobczak, and illustrators Federico De Luca and Luis Guaragna.
Carpenter is an American film-maker and composer, widely known for as a master of low-budget horror and science fiction. Often acting as his own writer, producer, and score composer, he is best known for creating cult classics such as Halloween (1978), Escape From New York (1981), and The Thing (1982).
He has released around 32 official albums including numerous film soundtracks, and compilation albums.
