Ireland launches themed stamps for Father Ted's 25th anniversary
There are iconic one-liners like "That money was just resting in my account", and "That's mad, Ted," on the stamps.
Father Ted-themed stamps have been released, to mark the 25th anniversary of the beloved television show.
Featuring iconic one-liners from the show and retro wallpaper to match the different rooms in the show's Parochial House on the fictional Craggy Island, the stamps pay a lovely homage to an essential part of Irish TV history.
Father Ted ran for three series and twenty five episodes, and followed the haphazard adventures of Fathers Ted Crilly, Dougal McGuire and Jack Hackett.
Pauline McLynn, who portrayed the tea-addicted housekeeper Mrs Doyle, said she was "proud" that An Post commissioned the stamps.
Her own iconic line, "will you have a cup of tea, Father?" is featured on one of the stamps in the set.
"They're gorgeous stamps, really comical and colourful, and capture the essence of the show," she said. "The legacy of the show and everyone involved with it lives on with Father Ted's ongoing success and influence on language, on comedy writing and on generations of fans."
