Hot for 2020 Actors: Leah McNamara
Roe McDermott looks at the Irish film and TV talent set for a huge 2020.
Limerick actress Leah McNamara made her first appearance on screen as a waitress in the 2010 series Jack Taylor alongside Game of Thrones' Iain Glen. Her career has gone from strength to strength ever since, with parts in films such as Cherry Tree, Cellar Door and Metal Heart, and her role as Aud in the series Vikings. 2019 was a great year for McNamara, who played a pivotal role in the grizzly crime series Dublin Murders alongside the likes of Killian Scott, Sarah Greene, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Ned Dennehy and Conleth Hill. This year, her success is set to continue, as she plays the key role of Rachel in Lenny Abrahamson’s adaptation of Normal People. McNamara has also just signed to Hyperion Talent Agency in the US, which counts Shailene Woodley among its ranks, so the sky’s the limit.
