First trailer for Dune: Prophecy released
The prequel TV series follows the origins of Bene Gesserit sect and stars Emily Watson and Olivia Williams
The first trailer for the female-led TV prequel to the Dune film franchise has been released.
Dune: Prophecy follows the origins of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood led by the Harkonnen siblings, and stars Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, as well as Rebecca Ferguson and Charlotte Rampling.
The series is inspired by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert’s book Sisterhood of Dune, which was a follow-up to Frank Herbet’s original Dune novels.
The trailer closely follows the release of Denis Villeneuve’s second film in the Dune franchise, which made over $710m globally since its release earlier this year.
The official logline states, “From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”
The series is set for release this autumn on HBO Max in the US, while an Irish release date is yet to be confirmed.
