Dónall Ó Héalaí, Moe Dunford, Danielle Galligan and Olwen Fouéré cast in new Irish feature Landlines
Break Out Pictures will distribute Landlines in Ireland and the UK, with the film set for a release in 2027.
A number of well-known Irish actors have been cast for Landlines, a new Irish feature currently in production in Connemara.
Written and directed by Tristan Heanue, Landlines will star Dónall Ó Héalaí, Moe Dunford, Danielle Galligan and Olwen Fouéré. The film is described as an intimate rural drama about family, inheritance and the consequences of broken promises, set against the backdrop of Ireland’s west coast.
Ó Héalaí leads the cast as James Moran, with Fouéré playing his mother Annie, Dunford as his estranged brother Thomas, and Galligan as his wife Katie.
Heanue said the story was inspired by inheritance disputes and the damage they can cause within families.
"Over the years, I’ve heard so many stories about inheritance disputes that began with a misunderstanding or a lack of communication and ended with families never speaking again, or worse,” he said.
“What fascinated me was how quickly land could become more important than the people fighting over it, and what people were willing to do to hold onto it.”
Landlines is an Irish-UK-Belgian feature from Black Gate Productions, in partnership with Forty Foot Pictures and Wrong Men Films.
The film is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, TPC and The Post Republic UK. Break Out Pictures will distribute Landlines in Ireland and the UK, with a theatrical release planned for 2027.
The project brings together actors whose recent screen credits include Arracht, The Dry, House of Guinness and The Northman. Landlines marks Heanue’s feature directorial debut and is due for release in 2027.
