Derry Girls’ Siobhán McSweeney to host The Traitors Ireland
The Irish edition of the reality series will air on RTÉ in 2025.
Derry girls actress and TV presenter Siobhán McSweeney has been named as the host for The Traitors Ireland.
Following widespread success in the UK, US and the Netherlands, the reality series’ Irish edition is filmed on location on the island and features a wide array of contestants from all over the country.
"Like everyone, I am a huge Traitors fan so when I was asked to host the Irish version I jumped at the chance,” McSweeney shared. “I'm looking forward to meeting our loyal Faithful and delicious Traitors.
“The Irish have a charm and ability to deceive while smiling which will make this version rather special, I think. And I'm the luckiest person in the world to watch them close up."
Praising McSweeney in a statement, RTÉ’s Director of Video Steve Carson said: "Siobhán is an incredibly talented actor with a great comic and dramatic range. We know that she is going to bring something really special to Ireland's version of this fantastic game of trust and deceit."
Traitors is a psychological adventure game similar to the party game Mafia. It sees 22 contestants competing for a prize of €50,000 in a remote castle through a game of betrayal, deception and trust.
Contestants face daily Missions to grow the prize pot, all while rooting out the covert Traitors who will try to eliminate them one by one. The prize can be claimed by Survivors who make it to the finale or any Traitor that remains undetected.
The Traitors Ireland will air on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player in 2025.
