Derry Girls to arrive on Netflix in Ireland and the UK next month
The first season of Channel 4's smash-hit comedy series is coming to the streaming service very soon.
BAFTA-nominated series Derry Girls will be available to view on Irish and UK Netflix accounts next month. Fans on this side of the Atlantic have been eagerly awaiting the comedy's arrival on the streaming service, since the first season of Derry Girls became available on Netflix in the US back in December.
The series, which has recently been renewed for a third season, began airing in January 2018. Throughout its last two seasons, Derry Girls has consistently been met with rave reviews. Since going stateside on Netflix, the show has fast become a global phenomenon.
Despite the streaming giant initially being prohibited from streaming Derry Girls in Irish and UK territories back in December, Netflix has finally secured the streaming rights on this side of the pond, and will release the first season on May 8.
In our recent Best of Ireland issue, out now, we caught up with Sister Michael, aka Siobhan McSweeney. Also take a look at our 2018 interview with Clare Devlin, aka Nicola Coughlan, here.
