Celine Dion romantic drama It’s All Coming Back to Me shares release date
The Celine Dion-starring film, written and directed by Jim Strouse, wrapped production in early 2021.
It’s All Coming Back to Me, a romantic comedy that sees Celine Dion star and executive produce, will arrive in cinemas on February 10th, 2023.
The film is titled after Celine Dion's popular song from her 1996 album Falling Into You and stars Priyanka Chopra as a woman struggling with grief after the death of her fiancé. In order to cope she starts to send texts to her fiancé's phone number which has now been assigned to another man, played by Sam Heughan. These two strangers soon develop a strong connection based on their shared heartbreak.
Dion will be playing herself in the film and will serve as a mentor figure to the two main characters while encouraging them to move on from their grief. Heughan has also recently confirmed that the Canadian vocalist has recorded a new song for the film.
The song that the film is named after was originally written by Jim Steinman and was made famous by Dion’s cover that she recorded for Falling Into You. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks, making it the thirty-fourth biggest number two Hot 100 hit of all time.
The films director Jim Strouse previously served as writer and director for 2015’s People Places Things and 2017's The Incredible Jessica James. The films supporting cast includes Russell Tovey, Steve Oram, Omid Djalili, Sofia Barclay, Lydia West, Arinzé Kene and Celia Imrie.
The news of the release date comes during the US theatrical run of Aline, a French-Canadian film that claims to be "A fiction freely inspired by the life of Celine Dion". French actress Valérie Lemercier serves as the writer, director, and star of the unauthorised Dion biopic.
Musical biopics have had a notable resurgence of popularity in recent times. Upcoming artist profiles include Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis film starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, and the Madonna biopic that will be directed by the singer herself. The forthcoming Moonage Daydream will also be the first David Bowie film to be officially sanctioned by his estate.
