Alliance Française Dublin to host La Belle et la Bête film screening
The free screening will be followed by a talk with UCD Musicologist Dr. Laura Anderson about music and sound use in the film.
The prestigious Dublin French language school Alliance Française is joining with the French Embassy in Ireland and University College Dublin (UCD) to present a screening of French film La Belle et la Bête along with an insightful talk.
The free event will take place on December 8 at 6pm, at Alliance Française's Kildare Street location.
The 1946 film is a romance fantasy film directed by Jean Cocteau. It is an adaptation of the classic 1757 story Beauty and the Beast.
With a wonderful score by composer Gorges Auric, the film screening is part of a Disruptive Soundscapes film-cycle, in which Alliance Française, The French Embassy and UCD are focusing on exploring innovative film music and sound. Musicologist Dr. Laura Anderson from UCD will lead the talk in discussing the role of both music and silence in the film.
The event will be followed up in May 2023 with a screening of Cocteau's Les Enfants terribles to honour the 60th anniversary of the esteemed director's death.
Free tickets are available for booking now.
