Universal Pictures release trailer for <I> Other Mommy </I>

The film is adapted from the novel Around the House by Josh Malerman, who also wrote Bird Box.

Universal Pictures have released the first trailer for the upcoming horror film Other Mommy.

Premiering in cinemas October 9, the film is based on a screenplay by Nathan Elston, which was developed from the Josh Malerman novel Around the House, who also wrote Bird Box.

The story follows a young girl, Bela, who "forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother."

Academy award winner Jessica Chastain is set to star as Bela's mother and as "Other Mommy", her evil doppelgänger. The cast also features Jay Duplass as Daddo, Bela's father, and Arabella Olivia Clark.

Supporting the main cast are Severance actor Dichen Lachman, Succession actress Arian Moayed and Karen Allen, who played Marion Ravenwood in the Indiana Jones films.

Other Mommy will be produced by James Wan and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, the studio behind Backrooms and Obsession. The film will be directed by Rob Savage.
