21 Studio Ghibli films to arrive on Netflix starting next month
The 21 films will be released in three batches, spanning three consecutive months.
Netflix has acquired the rights to stream 21 films from the acclaimed Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli in several different countries, including Ireland.
The streaming service will release classics like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service among others starting February 1st, rolling out over three consecutive months, with seven films a month.
"We’re excited to make them available in more languages across Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia – so that more people can enjoy this whimsical and wonderful world of animation," said Netflix in a statement.
Meanwhile, Studio Ghibli has confirmed that they are making two new movies in 2020, with one directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, who helmed his last feature The Wind Rises in 2013, but came out of retirement three years later.
