WATCH: Trailer for Phantom Thread, Daniel Day Lewis’ Last Performance
The trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film Phantom Thread was released today, featuring Daniel Day Lewis in his final acting role.
Anderson and Lewis worked together before on There Will be Blood (2007) and their latest project is expected to emulate their former’s Academy Award successes.
Phantom Thread is set in 1950s London and tells the story of a renowned dressmaker named Reynolds Woodcock (Day Lewis) whose business is at the centre of the thriving British fashion industry. However his life and work become disrupted when he meets his latest muse and lover Alma (Vicky Krieps).
The trailer promises a beautifully shot and emotionally charged piece, with a soundtrack by Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood adding to the intensity.
It will surely see the enigmatic Lewis go out on a high, before enjoying retirement in his home in Annamoe, County Wicklow.
