Watch: Tom Hanks in trailer for new Clint Eastwood film
Sully hits Irish theaters December 2016.
Tom Hanks stars in Clint Eastwood’s latest directorial effort as Captain Chelsea “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot behind the 2009 Miracle on the Hudson.
On 15 January 2009, Sullenberger safely crash-landed a plane on the Hudson River. 155 passengers were aboard, with all surviving.
The film concerns the incident and its aftermath. In the trailer, the media hails Sullenberger as a hero, but the pilot comes under investigation for the landing. The attention – and what may be described as a variation of survivor’s guilt – overwhelms Hanks’ soft-spoken character.
Sully: Miracle on the Hudson marks Eastwood’s first film since the controversial, Oscar-nominated American Sniper.
