WATCH: The new trailer for Despicable Me 3
A new two-and-a-half minutes long trailer for Despicable Me 3 has been released by Universal Pictures and it shows Gru meeting his twin brother Dru.
The first trailer, released in December, introduced Trey Parker (South Park) as the third movie’s new villain Balthazar Bratt, a child star from the ‘80s who is now obsessed with world domination.
Now fans get a foretaste of another new character: Gru’s long-lost twin brother Dru.
The ex-villain left his criminal life behind when he meets his charming and more successful twin brother Dru, who wants to team up with Gru for one last criminal heist to steal the diamond that Balthazar Bratt has stolen.
While both, Gru and Dru are voiced by Steve Cavell, Kristen Wiig returns as Gru’s wife Lucy. The voice cast also includes Steve Coogan, Julie Andrews, Jenny Slate and Miranda Cosgrove.
The Minions, of course, will be back too. Since the little, yellow servants first appeared on the screens in 2010, they found their way into the audiences' hearts. After the first two films in the Despicable Me franchise were huge box office hits in 2010 and 2013, the Minions finally got their own spin-off in 2015 which went on to be the second highest-grossing animated film of all time, with a sequel planned for 2020.
But first, the audience will see Gru & co back on the screens with the movie’s release set up for June 30, 2017 in the USA. The opening date for the UK and Ireland has to be released yet, but it can be expected to see Despicable Me 3 on the big screens this summer.
