Watch: Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time trailer

Malick has never shied away from addressing controversial issues in his films. He questioned Earth's creation in The Tree of Life, grappled with war in The Thin Red Line and explored the complexities of the dating world in Knight of Cups.

Now, in his first documentary feature, he is going to tackle them all.

Continuing his philosophical train of thought, Malick will explore the history of the stars and the future of humankind. And if that doesn't pique your interest, he has enlisted the brilliant Cate Blanchett to narrate the 90 minute documentary, while Brad Pitt will be lending his voice to Voyage of Time: THE IMAX Experience - a 45 minute version of the documentary for all ages.

The film will be shown at the Toronto and Venice film festivals before coming to IMAX in October.
