Watch: Teaser Trailer for HBO's New Limited Series, Big Little Lies

HBO adapts the 2014 book of the same name to television.

Big Little Lies is a recent addition to the canon of "chick-lit," genre fiction aimed at the adult women's demographic, which focusses on the issues of modern womanhood. It's a story of single mothers, ex-husbands, domestic violence, and scandal, all serious topics presented in a comedic manner.

The new HBO series stars Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Alexander Skarsgard, James Tupper, Kathryn Newton, Shailene Woodley, and many others. Jean-Marc Vallee, known for Dallas Buyers Club and Wild, will direct all seven episodes. The series will arrive sometime in 2017.
