Watch: Matthew McConaughey reacts to the news of Sam Shepard's passing

The news of the passing of acclaimed playwright and actor Sam Shepard hit both Hollywood and Broadway hard as the 73 year old has made a huge impact in both of those worlds.

Matthew McConaughey was just one of the many industry figures who was in awe of his talent, as evidence by his reaction when a member of the press broke the news to him on the red carpet.

When asked about Shepard's death, the actor looked visibly surprised and saddened by what he was told. He then gains his composure and admits that he thought Shepard's speech in Mud was so good it could have been used as the film's trailer.
