WATCH: First Glimpse of New Female Led Doctor Who
Actress Jodie Whittaker appears as the legendary character in the short clip
Season 11 of Doctor Who has dropped its first teaser.
The clip shows new characters Graham (The Chase's Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yasmin (Mandip Gill) being startled going about their day by the presence of the new female doctor (Jodie Whittaker).
The short teaser can be seen below.
Whittaker follows in the footsteps of actors Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi who have played Doctor Who since its revival in 2005. The actress most recently appeared in Paddy Considine's critically acclaimed boxing drama Journeyman.
The new series will also be the first made without the presence of showrunner Steven Moffat since 2010. Its female incarnation will be first led by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall.
The 11th season will premiere in October 2018.
