Most of us know Barack Obama as the current American president nearing the end of his second term. But before he entered the world of politics, he was just a guy.

The new Netflix original film gives us a look at Obama's early years back before his junior year at Columbia University. Known to his friends as "Barry," he must face a racially charged and crime-ridden environment and his struggling relationships with his mother and estranged father.
