UNICEF exhibition of Palestinian photojournalism in Gaza to open in Dublin
A Question Mark Hangs Over Gaza will open July 24.
UNICEF Ireland has announced that a photo exhibition by Palestinian journalists inside the Gaza Strip will open at The Complex Art Gallery in Dublin on July 24.
The exhibition, titled A Question Mark Hangs Over Gaza, will display photographs taken by Palestinian journalists documenting the experiences of children in Gaza.
A statement from UNICEF Ireland says the photographs are a window into the lives of young people living under severe conditions.
"The photographs offer a rare and moving insight into the experiences of Gaza’s children," the statement reads.
"Children who have lost their homes, schools, and loved ones, yet who continue to show extraordinary resilience in the face of relentless adversity. The title...reflects the many unanswered questions that weigh heavily on these young lives — questions of safety, dignity, and survival."
UNICEF Ireland also emphasises the personal risk taken by Palestinian photojournalists. According to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, at least 219 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.
The exhibition is described as "both a testimony and a call to action". It will run for three weeks, until August 15.
