The Iceland native had held the title for two consecutive years before Laurence Shahlaei from England overtook him and became the first Englishman to win the title in 27 years.
Unaccustomed to defeat, the Game of Thrones actor has redoubled his training regime in anticipation for the World's Stongest Man competition in three weeks time.
