Strong Irish Showing in Critics' Choice Awards Nominations
Saoirse Ronan, Daniel Day-Lewis, Caitriona Balfe and Martin McDonagh will be carrying the flag for Ireland at the next Critics' Choice Awards, it has just been announced.
Saoirse Ronan, who was tipped for stardom by 'Hot Press' all the way back in 2007 when we were the first magazine in the world to put her on the cover, has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in 'Lady Bird'.
Day-Lewis has been nominated as Best Actor for what he says will be his last film role in "Phantom Thread".
The playwright Martin McDonagh, who wrote and directed the movie 'In Bruge", has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for his latest offering, 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'.
The critically acclaimed animation movie 'The Breadwinner, which was co-produced by Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon, is nominated in the Best Animated Feature.
And Irish actress Caitriona Balfe has been nominated Best Actress in a Drama Series for 'Outlander'.
