Steven Spielberg to Direct West Side Story Film
The award-winning director has had the rights to the famous musical for over 15 years.
Now his intentions of bringing West Side Story to film are finally coming to fruition.
Spielberg revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that his big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's iconic musical is finally underway. WWS has been an ambition for Spielberg which he's dreamt of bringing back 'for decades'. The script is currently in the hands of Angels in America playwright Tony Kushner.
The finer details of the project remain quite murky. However, since Spielberg has made a career out of creating magic with everything that he touches, we're sure that the Spielberg showdown between the Puerto Rican Sharks gang and white Jets will be as epic as ever.
