PREMIERE: Fya Fox shares new electro-pop anthem 'Hit Me Where It Hurts'
Listen to the Hot Press premiere of Fya Fox's new single below.
Earlier this year we branded Fya Fox "Hot for 2022", now the electro-pop empress is back to solidify that standing with another sizzling, anthemic single, 'Hit Me Where It Hurts'.
Tapping into a more vulnerable side of the alt-pop singer, the track is a slow burn, opening with a brooding question "Is this what emptiness feels like now you're gone?" The song builds to an off-kilter chorus chock full of pounding synths and ear-worm melodies.
"This song came from my experience of people expressing their opinions and doubts of me as an artist in the music industry," the Dubliner tells us. “there are people who know just the right buttons to press to knock you but, I’ve learned that it’s really their own insecurities that they push on others."
For her latest offering, Fya collaborated with writer Richy McCourt over zoom in the height of lockdown. From there, the track was developed further by producers Matt Weir and Si Fransis.

Since the release of her 2020 single 'White Lies', Fya has strayed beyond her roots of Ireland's traditional country/folk scene into the alt-pop sphere. She cites influences the likes of Banks, Lana Del Rey and London Grammar. She was last heard on her 2021 single 'Numb – an equally radio-friendly hit with emotional lyrics to boot.
'Hit Me Where It Hurts' is set for release this Friday (March 25).
