Power Rangers Actor Convicted Of Manslaughter
Actor Ricardo Medina Jr. has been handed down a six-year sentence for killing his flatmate with a samurai sword.
Medina, who played Red Lion Ranger in 'Power Rangers Wild Force' TV series during 2002-2003, was given the maxim sentence possible for voluntary manslaughter.
He had originally claimed that he had killed his flatmate Josh Sutter in self defence back in January 2015, but later changed his plea to voluntary manslaughter. He would have been looking at possibly 26 years behind bars if he had been found guilty of murder.
"It was an offer that was definitely worth it for him to take. It mitigated his risk of potentially getting a life sentence," his attorney said after the sentencing was heard.
The 38-year-old actor also appeared in the likes of 'ER', 'Witchcraft', 'CSI: Miami', 'Parasomnia' and 'Power Rangers Super Samurai'
The incident happened after Ricardo Medina Jr. and Josh Stutter got into a fight about how the girlfriend of the former Power Rangers actor had parked her car. On the 911 call made immediately after the incident with the sword, Medina is heard saying: "Damn it, Josh. Why did you do this, man? Why did you make me do this?”
