Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds release scenic new music video for ‘Council Skies’
The UK rockers will perform at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on August 27th.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds premiered their music video for ‘Council Skies’ on Thursday, which is the title track off their highly anticipated forthcoming album. The band’s fourth LP is set to arrive on June 2nd via Sour Mash Records.
The ‘Council Skies’ track reflects on Gallagher’s formative years and explores wider themes present throughout the LP. “All the dreams I had as a youth were underneath council skies,” the songwriter reflected.
The new video, directed by long-time High Flying Birds collaborators Dan Cadan and Jonathan Mowatt, blends the stunning landscape of a city with the beauty of bright lights illuminating an intimate dance floor. The video also shows the band performing inside the historic New Century Hall in Manchester, which has hosted music legends including The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.
In the track Gallagher sings nostalgically about his upbringing and childhood wonders of what the future would bring:
Catch a falling star and we
Might drink to better days
Hiding what we find behind the sun
Thinking of what might have been
And what the future says
Waiting on a train that never comes
It’s going back to the beginning. Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be… that’s as true to me now as it was in the early ‘90s. NG
