Netflix Lands The Office Spinoff Movie
It's been a great day for comedy sitcom lovers!
With the news of the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm happening this morning, we now have the cherry on top as The Office film is coming to Netflix
Creator of the show, Ricky Gervais announced the news on Opie Radio and is delighted to have signed the dotted line with the world's largest streaming network. "Netflix has bought out the rest of the world again. Everyone is going to see it, which is great for me, because I'd rather 20 million people see it than half a million people see it in cinemas ... because I want to do tours off the back of it."
The spinoff movie, entitled David Brent: Life on the Road sees the return of Gervais' despicable alias, bossman Brent. Brent is on the road to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a rockstar. Gervais who played the character on the UK sitcom between 2001 and 2003 had phenomenal success both in the UK and when served as producer on the US remake starring Steve Carrell. The film will resume 15 years on from the shows finale and will be portrayed in the same mockumentary style. Shall we see a crossing of the two most aggravating yet lovable boss boys David Brent and Michael Scott? Please, let it be!
The theatrical run of David Brent: Life on the Road starts on August 19 with it soon to follow onto the Netflix stream waves soon after.
