M*A*S*H TV Star David Ogden Stiers Passes Away
The 75-year-old actor, who played a leading role as a surgeon in the iconic 1970s/80s TV show, has died after a battle with bladder cancer.
In later years, he was best known for his voice over work for Disney. He portrayed Cogsworth in the 1991 film 'Beauty and the Beast' and Dr. Jumba Jookiba in the 2002 film 'Lilo & Stitch' and its sequels.
Stiers was the associate conductor for the Newport (Oregon) Symphony Orchestra and the Ernest Bloch Music Festival.
According to his Wikipedia entry, David Ogden Stiers guest-conducted over 70 orchestras around the world.
The list includes the Oregon Mozart Players, the Vancouver Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, the Oregon Chamber Players, the Yaquina (Oregon) Chamber Orchestra, as well as orchestras in San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Chicago and Toronto.
