Martin Scorsese's Newest Film Will Release in Time for Award Season
After a three year absence, Scorsese returns to the big screen with a movie that might be his most ambitious yet.
Scorsese is one of the most prolific auteurs in Hollywood today. With films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and his most recent film, The Wolf of Wall Street, he has cemented his place in the Hollywood pantheon. We will always be excited to see what he delivers.
His latest film, Silence, has been described as his passion project. The story is about two Jesuit Portuguese priests who come to Japan in the seventeenth century to seek out their mentor. Their journey will be fraught with peril, since the Japan at the time was unwelcoming of outsiders and Christians were heavily persecuted. The film will star Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, and Liam Neeson.
We don’t know too many details of the film, so far, but we finally know the release date, 23 December.
