Katja Mia announced as RTÉ 2FM's new Weekend Morning presenter
Katja Mia is set to host 2FM this Saturday.
Katja Mia is set to host RTÉ's 2FM Weekend Morning with Katja Mia starting Saturday, October 18.
The Irish presenter, model and social media influencer will stand in for Bláthnaid Treacy for the next six months.
Airing from 9a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays, the show promises to feature great music, prizes and the What's Wrong With Ye Quiz.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to be making my radio debut on the RTÉ 2FM airways," said Mia.
"I’m honoured to be asked to keep Bláthnaid’s seat warm while she’s away!"
"I’m aware that I have massive boots to fill and that any new role comes with some learning curves, but I can assure 2FM listeners that we’ll have an absolute blast along the way. I’m looking forward to meeting the team and we’ll do our very best to continue to bring an extra bit of sparkle and fun to your Saturday and Sunday mornings!”
Mia, a Blanchardstown native, was previously the presenter on Uprising, the music TV series made in cooperation with Hot Press.
In an interview with Hot Press in 2024, she spoke about her work on on the series: "I was over the moon because this was the first project that I could work on solo as a presenter. In addition to that I am obsessed with music – I love music so much. So to be able to combine both of my loves – it was just a dream come true. It didn’t feel like work. It was brilliant."
Additionally, Mia has also worked on The Six O’Clock Show and Ireland AM.
In 2023, she appeared on Dancing with the Stars, where she and her dance partner Ervinas Merfeldas made it to the quarter final.
"Katja is one of the new seriously talented Irish stars and we’re thrilled to announce that Katja will be on air on 2FM for the next six months covering Bláthnaid Treacy's leave," said Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ 2FM.
"Saturday and Sunday mornings are hugely important to 2FM and I’m certain that Katja will bring her own unique style and energy to the show which will maintain the standards that Bláthnaid has created with the 2FM team in that slot.”
