Jon Favreau Will Direct a New Lion King Movie
We're not sure if photorealistic CG animals count as "live action."
Jon Favreau, still basking in the success of the live action remake of The Jungle Book, plans to direct a new take on The Lion King. Unlike the former, the latter is an animal only story.
Not much else is known about the film. Disney has been on a roll with its live action remakes/reboots/sequels of their popular animated films, with Beauty and the Beast currently in production. Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book is notable for its realistic CG animals who acted alongside the real flesh and blood Neel Sethi. The film was really good, with many considering it superior to the animated film it’s based on. We expect Favreau to utilize similar film techniques for his latest film.
