J.J. Abrams in favour of Knights of Ren movie
Abrams: "that [story] I think would be pretty cool to tell"
In a recent interview, Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams praised Star Wars brand manager Kathleen Kennedy and announced that he would like a Knights of Ren movie to be produced.
"I gotta say Kathy Kennedy, who's running it all, she seems to be pushing all the right buttons", Abrams said. "There isn't something that I'd love to see - I guess the one thing I would say is there's a Knights of Ren story that I think would be pretty cool to tell".
The wording here is intriguing. Does the present tense "there's" reveal that the studio already has a story in mind for a potential film? That Abrams has one? Is the director simply observing that the Knights of Ren could make for a good film?
Probably just the latter, but we can dream.
Whether we get the film or not, the Star Wars blitz is upon us: release dates and directors are already confirmed for episodes 8 and 9, a Han Solo spin-off is due to start filming next year, and Rogue One will arrive December 16.
Watch the trailer for that last one below.
