Jim Carrey Being Sued For Wrongful Death After Irish Girlfriend's Suicide
Cathriona White died from a drug overdose on September 28, 2015
Jim Carrey is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after his late former girlfriend, Cathriona White, took her own life.
The Irish makeup artist, from Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary, died from a concoction of Ambien, Percocet, and Propranolol, on September 28, aged 30-years-old.
At the time of her death, the actor released the following statement, “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
The lawsuit was filed by her estranged husband, Mark Burton. Burton claims that Carrey illegally obtained drugs for White and that he allegedly tried to cover up his involvement in her death.
The lawsuit also claims Carrey was "controlling and manipulating White", and that after offering to cover the funeral costs, to appear to be a "grieving good guy", he “reneged on his promise after learning that White had left a minimal amount of money to her family.”
