Simpsons creator Matt Groening gets the go-ahead for new Netflix animated comedy series
The fantasy parody cartoon is set for 20 episodes commencing in 2018.
He's been responsible for some generation- and genre-defining comedy work with The Simpsons, and now Matt groening is bringing his distinctive touch to the fantasy worllds we're used to seeing in Game Of Thrones and Harry Potter.
Disenchantment is set in the down-at-heel magical world of Dreamland and focuses on a princess with a fondness for alcohol, her elfin companion and her personal demon as they encounter a host of creatures and characters.
The show's leads are Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre, and Groening said that the rest of the cast includes "John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery."
Groening has said that the show is about "life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
No video, teasers or other juicy information has surfaced yet, but in a bizarre twist, a secretive trademark agent/solicitor from Dublin has claimed to have found the logo for the series, which looks like it would fit on an obscure black metal album.
