With the groundbreaking season six done and dusted, GOT superfans are going to have to wait it out for season seven.
With Game of Thrones usually premiering around the March/April mark, creators of the show have announced that due to weather conditions season seven will face a delay.
For all the talk and hype of 'Winter is Coming', it's now ironic that we have to wait. Finally six seasons down the line, the Stark prophecy came to fruition as Winter announced its arrival at the end of season six but the real-time weather conditions don't truly reflect that. Co-creator of the show David Benioff explained; "We don't have an air date, but we are starting a bit later because at the end of this season winter is here. So, we pushed everything down the line to get some grim, grey weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot."
The Game of Thrones set travels extensively to capture the different landscapes of GRR Martin's fictional world of Westeros. Location shootings happen in Iceland (North of the Wall), Croatia (King's Landing), Seville in Spain (Dorne) and Northern Ireland (Riverlands and Winterfell). However, with Winter casting its spell on all of Westeros, the filming will have to revolve around real time weather conditions to convey the dreaded season.
This Winter wait shall be a tedious one!
